今回はUSポップ界の音楽の歴史、流れを作ってきた音楽プロデューサーこと、Max Martin についてみていきたいと思います。
音楽をされていない方はご存知でないかもしれませんが、かなりすごい方です。

まず彼のプロフィールからみていきましょう。
本名は マーティン・カール・サンドバーグ
1971年２月2６日生まれの48歳
出生地は スウェーデン・ストックホルム
肩書きはソングライター、音楽プロデューサー、歌手
ジャンルはポップ、ダンスポップ、ロック、R&B など
キャリア
初めは1985年にit's Alive というメタルバンドを結成、vo担当する。
その後 二度アルバムをリリースする、そして1994年にDenniz Popとコラボを始めます。彼はmartinのメンターとなります。その時にDenniz PopがMax martinと名付けました。
199３年にmartinはCheiron studiosに雇われました。

こうやって改めて見てみますと、本当にUS popの有名な曲ばかり作られている印象を受けますね。。
音楽の特徴
彼の作る曲がなぜヒットするのか、ということで特徴を分析していきたいと思います。
１ カノンコード（代理コード含む）をしばしば利用
２ サビまでの時間が50〜53秒
３ アイデアは少なく、形を変え多用する
４ ４つ打ちのビートが多い
５ 言葉の音節も決められている
ということ少し説明をしていきます。
カノンコードが多いというのはそのままなのですが、例えばTaylorの日本でもカバーされたWe Are Never Ever Getting Back Togetherもわかりやすいカノンコードです。（ＣGDEm)Taylorの曲はかなりカノンコードが使われています。
そして次のサビまでの時間なのですが、ほとんどの曲が、始まってから50秒から53秒までぐらいでサビに到達します。（A+B+サビの形式の場合）
サビまでの情報量が少なく、バイブスを保ちつつ、サビで一気に出していくような形が多いと思います。
３つ目のアイデアが少なく、というのはこのことで、曲の中に持ち込むモチーフやメロディのアイデア自体は多くないです。
サビの１フレーズの前半半分がAメロやブリッジにはいっていたり、どこかの要素がいろんなところで散りばめて使われていることが多いです。
実際にMax Martinもたくさんのアイデアは使わな方がいい、そしていろんなことを明確にしすぎない方がいい、とインタビューでおっしゃってました。
最後に、4つ打ちが多いというものですが、上記にある曲を聞いていただくとわかりますが、あまり変則的なリズムを使われないと思います。
基本的に2拍目と４拍目が強拍となる形で作られています。
そして、入る言葉の音節の数も決められています。気になった方は一度数えて見てください。笑
いかに計算されてつくられているか、ヒットの裏には様々な試行錯誤があるということがわかります。。
彼が常にBillbordのチャートを作り、音楽の歴史を作ってきたと言っても過言ではありません。
